Ugh, this is getting old. It is monday morning and I've been doing this since Friday afternoon solid. One of my two machines is up somewhat, and the other I have restarted three times. It seems that the current Linux kernel doesn't like NForce2 SATA, and the current XFree86 distro doesn't like the 9800 Pro. I'm almost ready to put my old 8500LE back in just to make this thing work ... what a frickin nightmare. I'm hoping to have my primary PC up tonight, but I'm not counting too heavily on it.
The good thing, though, is that I have learned more than I ever wanted to learn about the inner workings of Linux ... and I have a feeling that more education is to come.
