there is a thread about using a mpfmath=sse,3## (I forget) that forces your processor to use all of its registers when doing math thereby doubling your math throughput. If you are really into the hardcore optimization you might want to try that.
I'm going to do it next time I emerge world.
By the way, I have to admit: XFCE4 rc3 is the sexiest window manager I've ever used. It runs faster than an illegal from the INS. I have never had a WM move this fast with this many features ... it is more responsive on my Athlon 700 than KDE, GNOME, or WinXP is on my uberclocked XP box. I am prolly never going to go back to the KDE/GNOME bloatware after this.
I am thinking of giving fluxbox a whirl, too, once they hit v1.0 though I think it may be a bit too sparse on the old features, eh?
