That is a very nice homemade block. The body of the the block would only take minutes to make with a hole saw, and drillpress vise IMO. The way he finished it off with all polished metal and the use of the socket clips could be changed. If he had used flat square copper stock, a poly top using the mobo mount holes would not have been as great of an effort if anyone wanted to use his concept to make their own block. Also the pattern could have been shifted for the central focal point to be where the pins were formed by the cut pattern. Personal satisfaction is indeed one reason someone makes their own blocks because lets face it, $30 or $40 is all it takes to go buy something redimade that's functional.
