Ah.. I get it.. ya. If you are underpowering the 226 then you wouldnt want to under power the 80. Shoot, just hook the 80 to the PSU and the 226 to the Meanwell. As for doubling the wattage calculation, I haven't considered that as my goal isn't pretty frost but just lower temps with as little condesation as possible. But again, it is your setup, and without knowing what your goals are the advice here may not be what you were expecting.
As for the 108 Watt power... I understood that to be a max output for some of the higher end procs, but nothing that is going to be represented over 1% of the cpu ontime, unless you are folding or such. I tend to think to address the power output that is there 90%+ of the time. What is the exact output of a cpu running 80% idle? I have no clue. Thats why testers are using a die-sim to test, as its very difficult to know for sure.
A 226 is capable of cooling anything, but almost a shotgun approach to defining exactly what cooling is necessary without having excess. Even using a 24V 172W pelt, I understand that it runs most efficient at 85% power.. 18V. By turning down my 24v meanwell it runs EXACTLY at 18V.
