ECC (Error Correction Control) memory is primarily designed for server operations, but now can be used in desktop PC boxes (as long as mother moard supports it).
If your mobo do not support this feature, don't worry, ECC simply won't do it's purpose, but the memory will work fine.

YET! You should know that in general ECC memory will cause a DELAY in overal performance. Average delay is not that big though, around 2-3%.
