System Advice: Best Athlon cpu/mobo for overclocking

Need a little help here. I'm putting together a surprise upgrade for a friend. I'm normally an intel guy, with a recent push into the FX land, so my experience is limited here.

What the best combo of Athlon series cpus and mobo from a pure overclockers standpoint. Yes, I'm W/Cing it. I've heard the mobile procs OC nicely, but again, no first hand experience here.

Nf7-SL motherboard (DFI lanparty NF2 B series gets higher fsb, but since it isn't yours, I'm recommending the Abit on pure ease of set up; the DFI can be extremely finicky). I have a standard 2500+ on one of these at 2.6ghz.

AMD mobile 2600+ =

exaliberpc.com do mobiles sold by stepping; might be an idea to research what steppings are good.

mosfet heatsinks and southbridge heatsinks
should get an easy 2.6-2.7ghz on water.

Dont be sad when it comes very close to your fx in gaming

i have an axpm 2600+, and i like it fairly well. i've been trying to decide to upgrade to a64, or just wait and overclock this thing more.

honestly, it's pretty decent. i'm running at 2500 right now, it's fairly cool and stable that way, on an abit at7-max2. probably get an nf7, and some faster ram. i can hit 2700 on air, but it's very unstable (due to cooling, methinks, with water i'm sure i could get 2700, and maybe up to 2800). i need to upgrade my 9700 pro as well, so i'll probably stick with the xp for a while. with faster hard drives, memory, and a new video card (not to mention wc), i think it will handle quite a bit.

edit: forgot to add, i'm solely using multiplier, i can't get this board to run stable with more than 1 mhz oc of the fsb. probably my vid card or something, but all my tests have been with just multiplier and a compatible bus speed.

Abit is a great choice for NF II boards, along with the NF7-S2 I'd suggest also looking at the AN7 board.

AN7 doesn't oc as well/isn't as stable
NF7-S2 only has +14%vcore, no multi adj

The NF7-S 2.0 has up to 2.3vcore and im using the multiplier on mine.
Did you mix up the AN7 with NF7-S 2 in that? I havent seen the AN7, so I'm not sure.

you are confused, and I posted to eliminate that confusion

there is an NF7-S revision2, w/ high vcore and multi

there is a NF7-S2, with low vcore, no multi
