ok, i just saw a picture of the inside, from another thread, and they were using the in-res mounted pump with foam, for silencing. has anyone tried this at all? i've never really thought about it before, but i was wondering how much that would affect the pump and all. they use "safety foam" in racing fuel cells in cars and such, to help reduce sloshing and stuff in the tank, and it works well. think it would be too much of a hinderance in a cooling res? might make things more interesting, if not quieter. ideas?

For one it depends on the foam. Indeed some kinds of foam do not hinder flow too much.
But then you can design your res so the problem of sloshing / foaming doesnt even appear... As for silencing suspension yields the best results. Ok for a submerged pump this can be tricky, but doable. |

hrmm... ok. my current designs are involving a sumberged pump, due to case restaints and such. *ideally* i'd like to fit the system in a pc-60, but i doubt that will happen. i don't think i can fit a decent sized res and a radiator in the front, but if anyone has interior dimensions, i'd be happy to discuss them. this machine is going to be pretty much just used for ocing and gaming and such, so small and tidy would be very nice. one hard drive, at least a cd, but would like to have a cd-r in it for good measure. doesn't really need a floppy, so i guess i could keep that out. i'm thinking i'd like to cool the chipset and video card (currently a 9700 pro)
but, of course, the goal is efficiency & quiet, thus the regards to the foam. i can buy the safety foam in large blocks for a diy fuel tank, so i should be able to get the right foam. if i went minimalist, which i was thinking, just a hdd and a cd. thinking about maybe that slot-load pioneer job, i've heard fairly good reviews. i noticed some people out there are selling and aluminum replacement front to match the lian li. anyway, i'll stop rambling now.
