Everyone's gotta have a hobby, and I sure enjoyed this hobby. So I'm back too.

Re: So why the hell not?
The wind got taken from my sails when I built this new system.
I went from a semi quiet system with a 3000+ A64 single core Asrock mobo 2gig PC3200 XP90 cooler and a 92mm fan to near silent with 2gig dual channel DDR2 PC6400 G-Skill. MB BIOSTAR TFORCE TA780G M2+ AM2+ CPU AMD A64 X2 4200+ 2.2G 65nm 65watt STOCK AMD COOLER! I am almost kicking myself for not getting the 45watt version. If this keeps up then we won't need coolers at all soon (again). Kinda shot down my motivation for the cooling hobby. |

Re: So why the hell not?
Time to try out the silent-PC hobby. That's a never-ending spiral of increasingly critical expectations.
And - I mean this quite seriously - you're using a 3.5" HD without a Smart Drive-type enclosure, you have a long way to go. Quote:

Also as for hard drives isn't solid state drives the way of the future? Should rule out noise as with lower powered CPU's and soon to be GPU's built right into the CPU. With lower power requirements you can get smaller PSU's and eventually be back to fully passive systems with no moving parts. This day is not that far away. No future in the silent hobby even if I was interested. |

I'm going custom loop soon. Stay tuned! (on Ryzen now, upgrading my 3600 to a 3700x this month)
