Les, et. al. - cold plate math and pretty pictures
There is a thread at OC-forums discussing coldplate thickness and involving "doc" who is the most knowledgeable person wrt TEC's that I've encountered.
link Thought some here might be interested. Besides, doc need to be enticed towards the dark side. (ProCooling) |

you've made the point, up to him to improve his model
AND, this is easy to test do you see any 4mm Swiftech coldplates ? (and I bet we sell more than all other enthusiast mfgrs combined) so why has "doc" not reconciled his theory with commercial practice ? (perhaps he has, I dunno though) |

Ta for link Only now noticed this thread - been neglecting "Peltier/TEC Cooling" section. Looks interesting stuff and "doc" is well respected by me. Needs serious re-engagement of Peltier head before any comment - Friday is booze head. |

Have a good weekend Les.
Thought some more on this issue and think any model which ignores the "active heatspreading" behavior of a TEC/Coldplate combination is inherently flawed. (A bit more on this in the OC thread.) Bill, Your points are very well taken. |

There's an article in this month's "Power Electronics" magazine (http://powerelectronics.com/) about Liquid Cooling for high power electronics, where TIMs are (briefly) mentionned.
Unfortunately, the article won't be online 'til next month |
