Need Opinions on this design (56K Warning)
Designing a new block for my CPU. I did one initially without doing any research, so I made a laminar flow block out of aluminum... Woo is me. Now I am making a micro-pin design out of copper, please give any comments on the design as such. The V looking thing in the center is a flow diverter to force the coolant to go opposite from the out nozzle then back to it. In port will be center of the block and the out will be center line at the point of the V.

Swiftech has had good results with their diamond shape pin grid design.
Lots of turbulance.

Re: Need Opinions on this design (56K Warning)
My supervisors says turbulance is bad and that lamina flow blocks are better. He would content that the swiftech design is bad because of high turbulance. also has anyone done a reynolds number calculation to show that it is turbulent :P
Not sure about the V idea. Think the flow mgiht not really be helped and the extra restriction is not off benefit |

I think the performance is more based on surface area exposed to water as opposed to turbulence on pin grid designs.

I used solidworks 2006 to do the block design and a specialized piece of software to do the flow characteristics of the block.
