Worth it?
Hey guys, first post for me!
AAAAGES ago i got a MCW478-UT (226W pelt) for something daft like £20, but ive never got round to using it as i dont have a PSU to power it. Pretty soon im planning on getting a San Diego 3700+ and was thinking about finnaly putting this pelt to use. SO, much question is, would it be worth shelling out an extra £100 for a PSU? Plus whatever extra i need as i doubt the MCW478 will go on a A64? |

That depends.
You need to define "would it be worth [it]" more clearly. At what point, or what would you like to see happen, for shelling out £100? |

Well, i guess "worth it" is seeing more of an OC on the chip, i know the new cores run relatively cool so i was hoping for quite an improvment. Think that would happen???

San Diego cores respond very well to additional cooling, unlike Venice cores which seem to only pick up an additional 200mhz on water. Adapting the MCW5000 to the A64 platform is no biggie. Just pickup the adapter from swiftech ($9). I'd say it's worth it for the sake of overclocking. Just be forewarned that this thing will eat a TON of power.

Oh btw, will a 120.3 be able to cool a 226W pelt + A64 + 6800GT??? I have 2 other old radiators, both 80mm fans and another old pump i could use (Hydor L20 or something).
