Electrical Question here...
I'm not too good w/ electrical stuff so maybe someone can answer me. If I have a 12 amp / 12v peltier on a 12a/12v psu... does that mean I can put nothing else on that psu cuz there are no more amps?

Righto!
you can but you will lessen the power to your pelt. ------------------ C-ya Joe - Owner/Editor www.ProCooling.com Where the Completely Addicted Come to Cool Off Somebody set up us the bomb. |

best power supply? well more watts = more amps... get one of those monster 530W power supllies and you should have 530/12= 44 amps on the 12V line, way more than enough for a peltier! basically, since power = Volts x Amps, you can calculate the theoretical max current a PSU can supply.

Screw that, build your own PSU, go find one of those 20pound Transformers and start wiring crap up. I've got a few old Amplifier ones laying around, I should use them sometime.

I ordered a 400W AT/ PS 24A on the 12V Rail. I found it at swiftech.com for $109. Im going to be powering a 118W Rated @ 15V peltier on a 1gig Tbird, and a 8V peltier on the 5V rail to help cool the water. I have a Enermax 550W ATX PS powering the rest of the system and fans. seems to work great!!!

Be prudent FreekyFrank
The TE-127-2.0-1.15/48 TECs draw 16.1A @ 15.8V - max, each At 80% of max, generally recommended for the highest efficiency (above that is largely internal heat): the optimum voltage is 12.6V with 12.9A EACH, at 13.8V you will have 14A EACH Your psu with a 22A rating is NOT going to "enjoy" a 28A load. be cool |

I now have a 12V power supply capable of 25A surge, 22A constant...
I hope this will power my 156W tedist peltier well... think this peltier will cool a 1.2Ghz Tbird at 1400+? I have the voltage mod, but this chip does 1367 with cpu default voltage and air cooling already I'll be using this with watercooling...2 radiators(one aircooled, the other one is submerged in a coolant solution inside a mini fridge) or should I be getting 2 peltiers...2 122W pelts? or 2 156W pelts?...also, does a standard cold plate have room for 2 pelts side by side? |

nice cablepro, i have a 1.2 doing 1365 with just air cooling....1456 with outside winter air piped in from a nearby window.
Gonna go with a 156W peltier water cooled setup soon...still colleting data on parts and costs. To power the thing...is it best to just get a 25amp 15V psu from a hardware store?..i don't want to spend more than around $100 for a power supply....hrm ------------------ 1.2Tbird @1456 with winter air cooling...yeah baby! |
