Custom Waterblock/Coldplate Clamping
OK, I want to give this a try over the Xmas break, but I need some input from you guys first. I want to modify my water cooling system to add peltier cooling but I want to try and make a custom clamping system.
Here is what I am thinking, I have a swiftech mcw6000 water block and i want to kind of make a copy of their retension system but with a couple mods. This is what it looks like: So if I replace the blue thing with a similar 1/8" thick peice of copper and have bolt holes at 12, 3, 6, 9 o'clock. I would also make a cold plate with a similar bolting pattern. I attaced a sketch I made. So finally to my question Would this supply enough clamping pressure? Any other thoughts/concerns? |

Might as well make them more robust, 2 bolts/side. Also, on the bottom plate, be sure that you dont forget the retention mechanism for the CPU. Also, how is it going to be insulated?

OK here is a new revison with the recommended changes. The top plate has a set of middle holes and the coldplate does not, this provides a place to screw the waterblock assembly to the socket (see the socket attachment).
As for insulation I am totally in the dark here and would love to hear some suggestions. Last edited by y061q; 12-06-2004 at 06:31 PM. |
