i've thought a lot about building one of those, but using those little camp stove propane bottles for propellant.
never gotten around to it though... all the crazy things i'd do if i had a nice big shop to play in all day long

I've made stuff based on the same principles, pressure, valve, fire stuff.
You can make pneumatic potato guns with water-sprinkler pnumatic valves, a pvc cylinder of compressed air, and a barrel. I've made 4 as of this day. They look very similar to this : http://www.xinventions.com/main/spud/pac2.htm

I built one in highschool. I used an oxygen conaster from a B-52 to hold propane gas, and hooked up a small clear PVC tube filled with liquid fuel that got blasted out by the propane through a small nozzel at the end of the barrel.
It was a fun project. |
