Heatsink/ Heat Pipe / ThermoSiphon Cooling The cat will only make the mistake of putting its paw by your HSF once. :) Also the place to discuss the new high end heat pipe goodness. |

ducted CPU cooler exhaust advice?
I'm thinking about building some ducts to channel the exhaust air away from my CPU cooler and direct it towards exhaust fans. This is sort of my initial brainstorm. can anyone advice whether this is a good or bad idea? It will move the heated air away and lessen recirculation of it through the CPU, but it will also provide increased load on the fan and certainly slow down the airflow to a certain extent. Do you think it's worth it to be able to get this air out of there, or should I try a different approach, like ducting a case fan in to feed the CPU fan?

Yeah, maybe duct a fan to pull the air from around the CPU instead, maybe from the top exhaust? That might be a better choice, maybe better than ducting on the hs itself. I wish I knew more about airflow properties to tell you.
