So I'm about to head off to college for yet another year, which involves draining my rig, taking the wb off the mobo, and otherwise prepping the comp for the rigors of airplane travel. I just recently got to thinking, though - if I'm going to be draining the loop and unmounting the waterblock anyway, this would be the perfect time to get a new block.
I'm not entirely satisfied with my DTek Whitewater. It performs fantastically, but the dual outlets don't exactly work well with the way that my case is set up. Basically, there's about a millimeter of clearance between one of the outlet tubes and the rad. I'd like to get a shroud for my rad, but due to the tube being in the way, there's just no room. Judging from the reviews I've read, the MCW-6000 looks like it would make the perfect replacement waterblock, but I'm wondering how well my 1/2" ID tubing will fit over its 3/8" ID barbs. In a perfect world, I'd just get the MCW-6002, but every place I've checked online is completely sold out of them. So my question is: Will my 1/2" tubing work with the 3/8" Swiftech block? I have hose clamps, but my faith in them only extends so far. |

1/2" tube on 3/8" barb = baaaad juju
what type of CPU are you using? You can always order the bock and then order whatever mounting hardware directly from swifttech. Sidewinder has some in stock http://www.swiftnets.com/

Uh.... Why not just get the MCW6002 which has 1/2" fittings?

Thanks for the linkage, firtol88, but Sidewinder's out of stock for the P4 version. Guess I should have mentioned what I have in my rig.
As for ordering direct from Swiftech, it's definitely my plan of last resort. I know the turnaround time on direct orders like that can be pretty long, and I'd like to have my new WB waiting for me when I arrive at school. Unfortunately, it looks like I don't have any other choices. I could always just order an A64 version and a P4 mounting plate, but that would entail extra cash, and the low price of the Swiftie block is one of the best things it has going for it. |

Just call or email Sidewinder, or who ever you like.
Order a Xeon block and ask them to sell you a pair of P4 spring clips. See if they will swap the hardware with a P4 6000 kit, I'm sure someone will be willing to sell you a P4 kit for the price of a Xeon kit. The Xeon and P4 plates are one in the same, only difference is the P4 kit uses clips and the Xeon kit uses bolt thru mounting.
