I just got my new graphics card and I want to mount my MCW50 onto it. The problem is that the MCW50 has the 1/2" hose barb adapters already attached to it, which prevents mounting of the metal retention frame.
Here are some pictures: http://www.swiftnets.com/assets/imag...40-640x528.gif http://www.swiftnets.com/assets/imag...0-w1-2barb.jpg I tried pulling out the barbs but they are stuck or locked into position. Please help... *sniffle* |

there is a grey insert pressed into the housing, ~ flush with the surface
there is a 'loose' restraining collet inside of the insert and the adapter which is in the collet you must push the collet towards the housing face, while at the same time pulling the adapter out a small black plastic tool looking like a wrench is used, anything can be adapted note that there has to be more pressure pushing the collet (to release it) than pulling the adapter |

You know what's funny? I didn't press my 3/8" barbs all the way into my MCW50 because they clicked into place and I though it was done, so I started filling my reservoir and it came right back out at the GPU block.
No, it really wasn't funny. I had to clean up nearly 2 litres of water and antifreeze. The supplied diagrams really don't cut it. There is no mention of the barbs, just how to use the standard method with 1/2" ID tubing. This does no good for those of us with 3/8" tubing who have to use adapters. Now I'm probably the only one who did this, but still, it's a significant omission. I know it might raise the cost of the blocks a buck or two, but some Zalman style instructions (full color step by step glossy paper stuff) would really put Swiftech products over the top. On a side note, I think I should've gotten the MCW50-T, because I'm not getting any better core speed out of my 9600XT than with my Zalman ZM80D-HP with an 80mm fan on it. |

the instructions are at the bottom of page 1
http://www.swiftnets.com/products/in...uide_MCW50.pdf do note they are in color note the intro "This product is intended for expert users only. Please consult with a qualified technician for installation." one needs to think a bit also, insertion depth comes to mind |
