Default SenC's Watercooling Jornal

I started running a journal of my WC sys conversion today.

Input is always appreciated.
Since I am going for a serious setup, I dont need flattering or "cools". I need constructive input.
That is why I want the ProC maniacs to take a stab at it...

Find the site here

I am confused about whether I should post everything here as well, or if I should just leave all the stuff on a single forum.

Regards

SenC.

You're welcome to post it here as well.

Nothing wrong with your camera, I also use my trusty 35mm, and develop on CD (use the previews in posts). Cheap, accurate, and thanks to an excellent Macro lens, always in focus.

There are many paints that you can use, but there's always a trick: the steel needs to be primed first, and of course that means sanding it down. Here's an excellent article:

Personally, I'll be trying out Rust-o-leum's "Hammer" paint, so polishing is out.

I've used the rustoleum Hammer paint and it's awesome. Make sure you let it dry for a whole day and not just 6 hours. The paint goes on pretty thick and when it's dry it is very strong compared to other spray paints.

I hope to get feedback from the ProC community.
(please dont be nice, haha)

This is the current setup:

Please excuse the camera... its older.

The above is a:
T-bird 1.2
512mb PC2100
Elsa Gladiac 920 (GeForce 3)
all on an ASUS A7A-266

Enough about that.

I will use the case above because it is roomy and sturdy. It is the Antec SX1040 BII.

The new system will be:
AthlonXP-M 2500+
ABIT NF7
512mb OCZ EL PC3200
Sapphire 9800pro
I will use my old drives for now, as well as my SB Live! becasue I like the iDrive that I have for it. ( RC action !!)

As for cooling parts, here is the rundown:

MCW6002
Laing D4 3/4 version (dont know if it is muffled or not)
Clearflex 1/2 ID
Dtek Jr-120
Greenman100 custom shroud (thanks Greenman)
HydriX
Evercool 120mm fan
A quick word on the fan...these things are supposed to push 80cfm @ 32dba...no
It is unsatisfactory in terms of airflow and noise. I might opt for some L1As or M1As. Well see.

A quick, badly lit scene of my cooling parts.

NOTE..that shroud there is the Coolingworks Coolshroud, which ended up not fitting my rad, It is to be had in the classifieds/cooling parts. Get it here

For a Shroud I will be using Greenman100's excellent custom shrouds, which is also to be had in the Classifieds under Cooling Parts. Get it here
I will post pics of it when I get it.

I went ahead and gutted the case,

and moved all the junk, to a temporary location (thats how I am posting this stuff)

I ran to Lowe's and got some dremel accessories, too. Notice the deathly fingertrap in the Background. It has been there for about ten hours now, and my finger ended up inside it... 2...times so far.

Believe it or not, 7 cutting wheels go for seven dollars at Lowes, while that bundle I have here cost 9.99

Right now, I want to cut a hole into the front of the case, but I am waiting on the shroud just to be save regarding dimensions.

I was test-fitting my mobo and vid card and it turns out that the 9800pro in conjunction with the raised AGP slot on the NF7 has some minor issues with my case.
check out how the D-sub top touches the case wall.

It is a very tight fit and the PCI barcket screw hardly makes contact with the cards metal bracket.

It looks like I will have to dremel the case a bit there to allow for the correct and full installation of my card.

Antec Antec, what are you guys thinking.

Test-fitting block, pump and rad to determine the routing and tube lenghts.

I am going to have to build a mount for the core and cut the case to allow it to breathe freely through the dust-filter.

The goal of the core-mount will be to get the core-barbs as close to the height of the pump's low pressure barb as possible thus allowing for a straight connection.

I also considered how I would route my tubing....I am going for a very clean and planned / factory look.

The following picture resembles potential routing #1.

Green = high pressure
Red = return from block
Yellow = return from rad to pump + T

In #1 it goes pump->cpu->rad->T->pump

If anyone has any other ideas of how to route the tubing...please let me know.

I dremeled out some ports for the DVI and Analog D-sub connectors of my video card. Ill do a test fit tommorrow, I am confident in that it will fit though.

I will probably re-paint the case before final assembly, because all of those scratchmarks everywhere are becoming very obvious.

more to come

SenC.
