I have really enjoyed this forum and have learned (and confused myself) a lot. This is my first setup (of 5 planned) and will be my "performace" rig.
I am using a A64 3500+ on an epox board with a bfg 6800gt Proposed setup cpu = g4 or alphacool nexxxos gpu = silverprop fusionhl rad = 77 bville core (purchased already) pump = mcp600 or iwaki md20 rzt some kind of res. tubing = I am confused weather to get 3/8 or 1/2 comments please Please comment on any of this. I would like to start purchasing soon ( I realize that some cpu blocks are hard to come by somtimes). I plan on putting all of this in an external case that I will build. Thanks BeerCan |

Looks good to me, except I would ditch the res, use a tee line instead. For external, I'd go with the Iwaki myself, and 1/2" tubing.

I would go with the MD20 myself since you should have more then enough room in the external unit and 1/2" with some quick disconnects.

1. A res in the right position really makes filling the system much easier. A T just doesn't help as much. Maybe you like rotating your case around and shaking it to get the bubbles out? Make a res or get one and put it at the top of the loop.
2. Use 1/2" for better performance. Use 3/8" for much easier routing of your tubes. Your choice. The performance difference will probably be in the 1-2C range, but that's a pull-the-number-out-of-my-pants estimate. It depends too much upon the amount of tubing you have and how often and tightly you have to bend the tubing. |

I was thinking because it's external there will be a decent amount of tubing.

OK given that my choice for cpu blocks is extremely hard to come by where I live can you recomend others for my setup.
I was thinking dd rbx w#5 nozzle dd tdx W #5 dtek ww poly top I am really looking for top performance and I am willing to spend $$ (within reason) on a system that will last. So according to my understanding of these blocks (gpu cpu)to perform well I would need a pump that has at least ~1.5gpm flow at high head.(or it will have that flow because of the higher head?) I think that the aquaextreme 50z at 13.8 should fit this situation just fine -- correct? Should I think about dual pumps? From what I gather the benifit would be marginal and the noise would increase quite a bit. (noise is an issue but I am not overly sensitive) sorry for the noob questions but I am trying to understand why I am doing what I am doing BC |
