Moving on....

I have thought long and hard about why I am into this cooling hobby and finding out the returns are not justified. I began water cooling originally 4+ years ago so I could overclock my SETI computer to run all out. After building 3-4 more computers over the years dedicated to projects like Distributed Folding and SETI I had a reason to water cool. Being I am a DIY type of guy I bought the tools needed to make my own water blocks. The hobby progressed into a challenge to make the blocks better.

Now I find myself given up on Distributed Computing and my real job is taking off with more and more traveling I just have no reason to continue this hobby. My gaming rig is completely Air Cooled and I like it that way. I have it setup nice and quiet. No need for water cooling. I have a half dozen designs I have yet to make but I just don't want to do them. No real reason to. Not to mention my mills in peices with no ETA on getting it together. I build several computers a year for people localy for just simple stuff and all out performance and not one of them has water cooling or needs it.

Anyway I find myself moving on to other things and back to things I used to do and enjoyed. Hey, might even restore a personal life, who knows... I got $3.50/hr raise at work as they seem to like they way I get things done. Those same techniques I use at work and in "real"life I use on the net but seem not to work out so well. People on the net seem to be more sensitive to things.

My website will be removed soon. Whenever they get around to closing the account. All my pics posted will be gone as well. Sorry for the very few that used them.

Anyway to the delight of most I will not be posting here much anymore. I spend way to much time here as it is and find myself bitching more than helping anymore anyway. When I do try to help it seems to not go so well.

Anyway, take care.

Well, sorry to see you moving on. Keep in contact if you can and take care!

You have amassed a large qty of stuff, though. Planning on posting anything in the FS/FT forum so that others can abuse themselves?

Yeah, keep in touch with the mill when you get it together man, whether you're using it for cooling gear or not - im sure a lot of people are interested here still. (me included, of course)

Remember old habits die hard, you'll probably have to ween yourself off it

Glad to the see people I respect the most posted already. I will be lurking from time to time.

Brian: All my stuff is pretty much gone. All my good computer stuff I built 3 decent computers with and gave them to the family members that need them. I don't even have a case for my gaming rig right now (buying one tomorrow). All my water cooling stuff is stored for future use if need be (most of it junk now anyway). Going to be down to my laptop and my gaming rig.

Ben: Yes, I made a substantial new years resolution. Things have been going so well for me lately I decided it was time to get my shit together and work on more important things in my spare time. Being my employer gave me $3.50/hr raise that pretty much eliminated any reason I had to look for new work be it self employed or a new job I figured it was a good a time as any. I am pretty much set now and I like the job so I am going to make it an official career. Always interested in what your up to Ben.

Etacovda: The mill is coming along. It is all in pieces and the new table is cleaned up and ready for mods to work with stepper motors. Now I just need to get around to getting it all together and working. It will be awhile though. Was hoping to have it done by now but decided to built comps and do some other stuff more important with the time I had to work on it. I got all kinds of non water cooling stuff planned to do with it when it is complete.

I am still deciding if I want to keep the websites up and running or not. I might leave customcooledpc up and put all my work up there. Could turn one of them into a babe site again. Have been doing a lot of research and finding the chances of a law suit are slim if I am not making money from the site. One of my resolutions is to learn PHP and MySQL this year. Could use it as a work in progress.

Well I'd miss you Jaydee. Don't go too far okay?

My interest in water-cooling waxes and wanes in a cycle. I leave it for a bit, only to return to it later with renewed interest. Have a feeling you might be back after a break.

Take it one day at a time, okay? Best wishes.

It's always sad to see such an inteligent member fo the community go.

GL with work. However I don't see why you can't have a hobby on the side (not neccesarily watercooling). Maybe you let it take up too much of your life?

Plenty of hobbies on the side DryFire. That is one of the problems. Those other hobbies are a little more interesting right now.

I will still ckeck in every now and then Joe. Will keep answering to posts I keep getting e-mail notifications on aswell.

I hear you Cathar. Once I get my mill built WC fever may take over again.

Good luck Jaydee. your posts were some of the first that encouraged me to try water cooling.

Maybe in time you'll have a eureka moment and try it again.

lol, I left watercooling aswell. AFter 2 years or so of doing it. Guess what, I've just spent enough money to buy a new house on watercooling

Tbh, I knew why I left, and I know why im going, because im stupid. Atleast this time i'm going back into watercooling with a different mind, and know what "could" slap me in the face

Update on my situation and rambling because of boredom.

Our company actually won a bid on a job locally on a new fire station. We are doing all the sheet metal work on it. Gutter, fascia, trim, flashing, siding, metal roofing, ect... They put me on it so I am stuck here in town for a while. Being my daughter moved away I don't have her on the weekends anymore (soon to change, moving back in April). That coupled with winter I am bored off my ass. That's one reason I have been poking around here lately. Not to mention this site and a couple I own and manage are the only reasons I get on the net anymore.

Is it just me or is the net pretty boring anymore? Seems like the same old shit over and over again. The net has turned into a self serving agenda propaganda tool. Hackers are having the time of their life's messing up what they can because they can for lack of anything else interesting to do on the net. Porn is still the most profitable business on the net and that's why it will never be removed from the net. Online gaming is still ok but I am bored to death of it mainly because all the kiddies and I think I am not the only one feeling that way.

Anyway I changed my hosting plan on my site and am now re-uploading the pictures so they should show back up here in the Pro-forums.

My main comp is still air cooled but I am thinking about water cooling it again. Probably pick up one of those small MCP-350, the plastic bay res, one of DD's top mount fill plugs, and a small rad. Will probably mill a new block for the CPU. Nothing else needs WC's.

I plan to take the fill plug on the plastic res and either replace it with a barb or mod a barb into it and then run a hose from it up to the DD top mount fill plug. That way I can add fluid without moving the res. Might assist in better air removal as well.

Well back to cleaning house.....

Well, good to see you are still hanging around. I think that 75% of the fun of this Forum is the people, not the info.
