1/2" ID Inline Temp Probe and Flow Meter?

Has anyone seen anywhere that makes a good 1/2" ID inline temp probe or flow meter? I've seen some nice solutions for 3/8", one flow meter even reported rpms to the tac wire so you could monitor it with your mobo or a fan meter (ideal!!). However it was only 3/8". Or if anyone has a good tutorial on building one I'd be interested. I did find thermaltake is making a temp reader: http://www.thermaltake.com/watercool...3/cl-w0033.htm and this would be great, (a little weary of their connections though, might be hard to get around my tubing). Does anyone know where to buy a junction like that that you can screw 3 nipple connectors into? I could probably build my own temp sensor if i could source that.

You can get brass ones that are 1/4" NPT if you like at Home Depot etc.

just pissed off 3 weeks on exactly this problem (a bit higher accuracy of course)

So where did you get a plastitc Tee fitting? Ideally I would like 3/8" IN NPT screw ins on the to flowing ends and a 1/4" for the temp probe... but I'll take what I can get. =)

1/2" sch 80 PVC, any large hardware store
0.5" bore

Schedule 80 fittings should all be threaded. Been to the hardware store lately Halcyon?

I have but everytime I go to home depot i swear they never have what I'm looking for so I have to go to a specialty plumbing place or buy online. Is it safe to submerse a bulb type thermistor + some of its wire? Or any thermister for tha matter?

Bulb type are generally coated in plastic. I spent a good part of thursday calibrating one in ice water baths.

Anyway look at Aceshardware or a local plumbing supplier over homedepot. Aces is generally very good, and when they haven't had what I wanted, they've been able to tell me where to go for it.

Resin coated thermistors don't do well in water over extended periods. I've nuked a few by leaving them in my res for a few months, after a while the resin just crumbles away and the thermistor dies a horrible death.

The link you provided halcyon in your opening post shows in it that it comes with other fittings for 10mm(3/8") & 12mm(1/2") ID lines as well as the ones it comes fitted with.

Would seem to be no problem then, except that accuracy is +/- 1C.

Capacitance would also still be a issue as well unless you just want a "ballpark" reading.

Ya I think the thermaltake one would work good (+-1c is fine with me), however I haven't been able to source it anywhere. I'm also concerned about the quick connect fittings if they will work with whatever tube I choose. And I'm also running head-into a wall on the issue in my other thread where the digidoc we've got does a 1 to 1 fan control to thermal probe control, and I'd like to have a bunch of fans triggered and different temperatures from 1 thermal probe (figure out some way to wire 1 probe to multiple connectors), but if I cant get that to work I'll have to embed another thermal probe into my reservoir or something.

I found this post and it is along the same lines as my question.

I recently picked up a Danger Den setup with 1/2 and a Crystalfontz LCD kit. I was wondering if there is anyway that you can get a Inline water temp probe to register to the LCD. Also wondering about a flow indicator, same question.

If you could suggest a temp probe and flow indicator that would do the job I would be eternally grateful.

Cooling the chipset, cpu, and vid for reference.

Once meter is working well, will see about adding a pyrometer.
