![]() But seriously, I've seen some people use washcloths and stuff like that to let the water trickle down so it doesnt just splash on the bottom.

Personally id try some sort of foam/cloth and bio-balls (you can buy them at an aquarium stockist) - this could actually increase performance somewhat by providing superior surface area. Course, grain of salt and all that.
