Hi all... I have an overclocked Duron and want to start peltier cooling for a number of reasons...
questions.. 1. would using closed cell foam insulation on the back of the motherboard behind the CPU retain heat in that area and therefore hamper cooling attempts? 2. Im lost with amps and volts etc... but will learn quickly as I experiment. What wattage peltier should I use with my Duron and Maze2? I dont want subzero temps, but something better than the loud fan I have now would be rewarding! Thanks guys! Yan |

Also, where is the best place to buy a potted peltier device for this purpose?
Im in New Zealand if that has any bearing on your reply. Thanks again Yan |

If you are above ambient you won't need closed cell foam. If you are below ambient isolating the CPU will improve temp.
I think a 156W peltier on a duron would work good. |

dangden and tedist have potted 156 watt.
156 watt will put you below ambient, so read up on insulating thev cpu. -- unless you use a controller to keep it above dew point. |
