Okay Ive been around here awhile, been watercooling, pelting.. etc.... so I have some basic knowledge.
I ordered a new computer and I am trying to scope out the aspects of the watercooling side. My new comp is... Coolermaster Wave AW8 Max 2.66 805 Dual Core Intel Pentium D OCZ DDR2 667 PC5400 2x512 Sapphire X1800XT 256mb OCZ GameXStream 600watt psu Now in that case it has 2 front 80mm fans... I have a single pass heatercore laying around (forgot the car it came from, but its a standard one i was recommended off here) For some reason if i cannot get that thing to fit in this case. I know I will be able to run 1 blackice micro 2x80mm and 1 blackice 1x80mm. I dont want to resort to that if possible, but if I am going to have a problem getting this heatercore to fit then its the only clean way i can without tearing this case a new one. This is the WC setup i want. DD TDX DD Maze4 DD Pump 5 12v DD Res Clearflex call me a DD fanboy lol. So all in all.... that heatercore > 2 of those blackice micros? and do you think it will be sufficent enough to cool those 2 chips... the micros will have fans in push/pull |

2 BIM's is stretching it IMO, I'd only result to 80mm or 2x80mm rads for SFF systems. (My SG-01 is an SFF and I still use a BIP2.)
Maybe try modding the case if the heatercore doesn't fit, or try modding the heatercore. lol, dremels. |

If you have 2x80mm fanholes, you could cut out a 160mm square and then make a mounting plate for a 120mm fan. |

One of the biggest CONs when using HC is finding ways to mount it. Doesn't have to be mounted at the front intake of case.
It can be from the side and you can cut out side panel which is flat and easier to mod and work with. You can also mount in back exhaust and try some drilling some holes and using spacers. doesn't have to be in standing position. Try leaving it pointing at 30/45/60 degree angle using zipties to keep it up. |

HC mounting is a PITA.... but I have an idea for you.
Using any of your PCI slots? Didn't think so. Take out all of the PCI covers, mount a 12cm fan there in exhaust configuration, mount the HC directly behind the 3.5 inch drive bays (might be a tight fit with the GPU), and make some sort of shroud to connect the two. This way your rad will be sucking in cool air from the front of the case... hell the twin 8cms might even help it... and it will be exhausted out the back. Just an idea. I've got others if you need them. |

Here is another idea (got a lot of spare time on my hands).
Cut out a 16cm square from the bottom of your case. Mount the HC there with a shroud and a 12cm fan blowing upward toward the GPU. Make sure your case has rubber standoffs of at least 1/4" if not 1/2". This has the potential, BTW, to be a VERY quiet setup. |

While you're discussing radiator placement let me put a question as well.
I got a Nexxos 3 radiator that needs to be installed. I'm building a wooden case for my PC (I'm planning on having everything inside the case) but right now I'm not sure if I should place the rad on top of the case or on the bottom like maxSaleen suggested. Any ideas? ______ TaTs |

Your friend is going to buy it?
Save him the trouble. Most rads are going for $40-50 for 2x120 and 3x120. You can't mount next to pci slots unless the fans are outside the case. HC is too thick. PITA is so true and the bunghole is getting irritated as we speak. My idea, mount the HC bottom 5 1/2" slot and keep it up with zip ties. |

if you have the computer on the floor you may find it will suck up a lot of dust through a floor vent but top rads trap air better... each way has its weakness best bet is to find the best hose routing jman |
