Default mod laptop LCD to use w/ vid card?

any one figure out how to mod a laptop LCD screen to work with a vid card? I got the idea from http://www.virtualhideout.net/cool_case/page16.shtml

there was a further in depth article at chicks hardware, the guy said he used a analog to digital converter but i couldn't find out any more

Maybe a video card with DVI like the Hercules Geforeces (DDR-DVI, Ultra, etc) would work for it.
