This may seem like an odd request, but I would like to see you cover your entire body w/ TECs and waterblocks... the ENTIRE body. Then get a buddy to rig up the hose and turn that mofo on. Videotape the entire thing please. Use epoxy to attach everything

er... TECs are expensive, so are waterblocks (heavy too)
also I dont think arctic silver bonds to skin that well
and thats gonna need one helluva lotta power, you got a big enough converter? (or a few spare car battery chargers)?

but if you willing to foot the bill I'll do it as soon as I'm finished with the patting head + rubbing stomach article

Yeah. Good call. I'm not really worried too much about thermal conductivity so just use a bit of Arctic silver and then JB weld it around the edges. As for power, I'll buy 15 AT power supplies for ya if you go through w/ it

hmmm, Id rather use ATX PSU's so I can use them later, however a few car battery chargers would be a better idea (in instant start mode they put out 60A at 12V)
I'd consider doing this if you'd foot the bill for ~100 TEC + waterblock + hose combos and why not an hour of my time at $500/hr plus hour of friendfs time at $300/hr... lol

Actually id also like to see an article on how to do louvres in the case, like u can get on some of the more decent cases.

I tried to do it in the past by cutting c shapes in the case with a dremel and then bending the pieces with pliers, but as u can imagine it just looked REALLY bad.

But the good thing about the louvres is they can be a bit quieter than just an open blowhole (as u can direct the airflow and noise away from u), and they look awesome if done well.

Imagine a case with the top having big shark gill look on top for airflow instead of cheesy finger guards

ok wooden cases is an idea... its really pretty simple but I'll look into it. I really like the idea of louvres or external air ducts tho. ideally these would be welded to the box or something, not sure I can do that but I can definately whip something up.

How about instead of the traditional blowhole you use a blower and duct the exhaust to the back? (or side if the p/s is in the way) Then you only have a small rectangle to cut. Much lower profile, and it should work just as well.

I really like that idea... with some creative ducting it could go through the PSU so you wouldnt even see it! One other idea would be a ducted HSF for the CPU... take a HS like a SK6, mount two ducts on it (diagonally), have one suck in from outside and one go out of the case. This way you would get not only increased airflow but all cool air. Also (im sure this has been done before) I could take the SK6 and build a water box around it, if the flow was done right it might work pretty well. Mounting it would be hard tho.

Going through the p/s sounds like a good idea.

Now blowers ducted to the cpu heatsink, I've wanted to do that ever since I saw this:

It's a very elegant solution, but difficult to translate into a regular PC case. Usually the socket is oriented the other way. That makes the exhaust side easy to duct to the back of the case, but the intake side is blocked by the dimms, so as you say you have to come in at an angle. And if the socket were oriented the other way, it would be a challenge to duct the intake, though you might attach the blower directly to the mb side of the case if the p/s isn't in the way. Even still, then you have the exhaust blowing on the agp slot.

Something else that might be worth trying is a setup like the silverado (2 blowers blowing down on the hs) on a skived hs like the dynatrons. I'm wondering if all that's holding back their performance is the static pressure required to overcome the tight fin spacing, you have to slap a delta on them to get any performance and the delta isn't too happy about it. Now, I'm not suggesting that strapping 2 blowers to a massive copper hs and then hanging it off the 2 socket lugs is a good move

But if you laid the mobo horizontal and tape them on you could test the performance to see if it was worth pursuing. Most of the slot blowers out there claim 42 cfm, so potentially 84 cfm. If it outperforms a delta 38, then you just have to figure out how to mount the blowers to the chassis and duct the air to it.

I just ordered a couple blowers to use for the top of the case, but i'll do some informal heatsink testing first. I have a dynatron bm-p that I can use to test. 1 blower on the side vs 2 blowers on top vs the delta. I'll start a thread in the air cooling forum in a couple weeks with the results.

I was thinking take a SK6 or similar HS and lose the fan. The fins should be horizontal when mounted. The center cut is the divider. Have one duct come in at an angle and exit to computer's back exhaust fan, it will suck out of half the top and one side. Then have another duct from a blowhole or something, it will blow air in the other half of the top and the side. Airflow will be side to side instead of top to side but it should work, and with ducting you could move one helluva lotta air through that...

yeah I've thought about that, but isn't too practical I think overall. For one when you want to remove the side of the case, you immediately get into problems.

Something like an alpha pep66 would be easier to do this to though. Do the mod on the duct, to have it so the fan is on the top. Have an 80mm blowing down onto it from the outside of the case, and have another duct with an 80mm sucking out to the back of the case.
