Original setup: T-Bird 850 @ 1gig. 120 gal pump in a tank. Copper tube transmission cooler 4 pass (cut in two and "folded together...water passes from left to right not front to back etc.)120mm fan at 5 volts. Aluminum homemade waterblock from K6-2 450 days. MSI K7t-turbo motherboard and onboard temp.probe. 3/8 internal diameter tubing.
Temps run 111F to 120F under Quake III load. Ambient room temp 89F, case 91F New setup: T-Bird 850 at 1 gig. Same motherboard. 235 gal inline mag drive type pump. 6 1/4 x 6 1/4 x 2 heater core. 120mm high cfm fan with variable control. Shroud. Homemade copper "polyblock". The in/out in the waterblock are big enough to almost swallow a 3/8 hose barb... 3/8 hose. Temp runs 107F to 113F under Quake III load. Ambient room temp 89F, case 91F Other than buy a fantastically expensive waterblock with a non-existant credit card (yeah and artic silver too)what could be done to improve the cooling? I wonder if I can get less than a 20F temp difference between the room temp and water temp? Should I really try for 1/2 inch hose? Ideas? Oh, couldn't find water wetter at a store near me... ![]()
