Hi everyone,
I was looking for a small res to put to the store for Eheims and include with our watercooling kits... I use RC tanks in my own rigs as some of you may already know... anyways I got one of those small Innovatek aluminum reservoirs that attaches easily to the Eheim 1048's inlet. I noticed that it's not anodized, instead it's painted with some kind of black paint. I think in the long run this may cause some problems... ofcourse I maybe wrong... Does anyone have any information on this? also any ideas on reservoirs are highly appreciated... Thanks, Bruce www.cooltechnica.com Last edited by dacooltech; 03-13-2002 at 11:30 PM. |

paint works on houses, and rain doesn't worry the paint, and many forms of paint can protect against rust

I know that Brad, but don't you think it's better anodized?
do you think it's not necessary to use anodized aluminum for the blocks then? are their blocks the same, meaning not anodized but painted instead? 'cause they also use copper in it... Last edited by dacooltech; 03-14-2002 at 12:50 AM. |

annodising would be better, but I can't see why paint would be that bad. the paint peeling off into the water, or chemically affecting the water would be the only possible issues

I don't know what type of paint they used, but it easily get scratched...
BTW I'm not trying make it look bad or anything like that... it's a smart design, good CNC machining and all but... well basically $30 for such a small res, I was expecting more i guess... I always thought it's anodized, and surprised when I found out it's not... the plexi version seems to me like a better deal and it looks good, too... Now I'm also wondering if their Rev3 block is also painted? pHaeustus fill me in bro ![]() |

Paint seems a little weak to me, and I would wonder about the long term effects of Paint + Heat + Pressure + Water Wetter. I am especially concerned with the water wetter. I would be interested to see what some of these people running them say 6 months down the road about these things before I would consider buying one myself.
