Default Eheim 1048 Fittings size?

I posted this @ [H] but maybe you guys can be more help.
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?threadid=376926

Okay I just ordered my Maze3, geforce WB, BI Xtreme, and all I need is a pump. Looking at Eheims website it says the input and output of the 1048 is 13mm or 1/2 inch. Danger Den is telling me it's 3/8 inch. I have a 1046 which has 1/2inout, and some silicone tubing and I can see why they would recomend 3/8 tubing. I really want to maximize flow and want to stay away from 3/8 tubing what would you guys recomend?

I was also wondering where a coiuld get replacement fittings for my ehiem as the output fitting broke. What size thread is that?

I think DDen have used reducers, but I'm not entirely sure, why not email them?

The other thing maybe DDen uses ID, while Eheim uses OD

the 1048 has 3/8" ID barbs that are 1/2" OD, 3/8" silicone tubing fits it well.

i did email them they say it's 3/8 and that 1/2 hose will be lose.

I'm going to just see if I can get enough flow with my 1046 and if not I'll get the 1048.

It looks to me like both inlet and outlet are the same size as the outlet on my 1250. The fitting isn't molded onto the pump; looks like 3/8" NPT x ~ 1/2" barb. You can get 3/8" NPT x 5/8" barbs and go without hose claps using 1/2" silicone

1/2" tube will fit fine on the 1048 if you use hoseclamps, still no leaks here *touch wood*

Well I went to HomeDepot since it's 5min away and I got the fittings I need to convert my 1046 to 1/2output and I figured that I can put the hose all the way to the thread of the inlet and double clamp it. I hope that with no right angles and 1/2 fittings everywhere after the outlet it will be enough flow. If not I'll use this for my P3 600 server, and get the 1048.

Man coverting from 1/8 to 1/2 was almost impossible I can't belive I was able to do it with ONLY three fittings. HAH HA

It looks pretty cool too with out my ghetto JB weld job I did last time. I was going to get brass a barb for the inlet but I wanted to do it with one fitting and I couldn't find what I needed which was 3/8pipe thread to 1/2 OD barb.

I'll post some picture once I progress more with my project which I belive will be the smallest self contained WC system around until Una finishes his nanocube. He will have me beat by about an inch or so in each demention Thats all the clues I'm giving.

Thats why I'm trying to make do with a 1046 or 1048 and keep the pump small.
