Is 6"x6" heatercore enough for OCed 2100+?

Guys i'm making midtower case for LAN parties (antec 1030) and i saw some ppl placing regular 6x6x2in heatercore in front of their case,(you know right behind the bezel in Mid tower)
I wonder is it enough to cool overclocked AMD2100+ or future Thorobred since i hope to use this case for some time.
Or should i better get regular radiator ( the zig zag one, with one tube running back and forth) and place it in front too.

I usually place radiators on top but 1030 doesn't have enough room on top, the PS is too close.

So any suggestion are appreciated

i have the setup your reffering to and i pretty sure it would im hitting a good 1820 mhz at 2.0 v(my temps are in my sig)and im pretty sure it could handle alot more heat load...when i up my voltage by .1 volt it wont raise my cpu tems but 1c

Ohh cool.now i'm sure i'll go for it.
AND one more thing does your pump affect monitor(another words is it magneticly shielded?) cos my comp is close to my monitor?

man, a typical 6" x 6" heater core (or Black Ice Extreme) will run circles around those serpentine radiators (the ones with 1 tube running back and forth). those radiators also butcher your flow rate as well. heater cores use multiple parrallel tubes so they are much more efficient, as have very little flow restriction.

think about it, you allready have the antec case for magneticly shielding the pump for the monitor

Heh, but that's not going to shield it from all the stuff in your case including the video card.

thats obviously true

does magnetic radiation harm pc-components?

maybe a stupid question ... be gentil

Well, it certainly isn't good for them. Definately not for magnetic media drives.

I wouldn't be surprised if some instability problems were related to magnetic fields affecting the components.

UpAllNight: That is one sweet looking radiator you have there, I can truthfully say, that is the cleanest looking heater core in a case I have ever seen. Good job!
As for the pump EM field, I ran my Magdrive model 2 (250gph) which is completely unshielded, 1" away from my hard drive for about 6 months, with absolutely no problems. I even ran 150FSB (37.5mhz PCI) and still had no problems. It was also like an inch from the motherboard at the same time..

a 6x6x2 heatercore is a pretty good for pc watercooling... the only thing that will really beat it is either a bigger heatercore.. or a heatercore that has a higher fpi (fins per inch), or just having 2 heatercores in parallel . either way you might get 1 or 2 degrees difference at best that just using a single 6x6x2 with an xp at around 2 volts... so a 6x6x2 will do fine as long as you use a shroud with a 120mm fan (unless you are getting a 172mm rotron fan ) and have the fan sucking air from the rad...

A 6x6x2 heater core handles extreme loads if you need it to. My small 100x150x20 mm "low pressure drop" radiator that I got from DangerDen can handle 100W, without temperatures getting out of hand - with only a 35 cfm (92 mm) fan. I'm sure if I put a 60+ cfm fan on it (120 mm) I could probably get away with 100+ W but that is kind of besides the point, I'm watercooling for the noiseless operation.

I have a 60cfm 120mm fan, it is noiseless.

Well that is a matter of your own definition of noiseless
The quietest 120 mm fan I have is a Papst 55 cfm model, I still prefer running it on 7 Volts to keep the noise level down, and it's not the fan noise - it's the rush of air that bothers me. I guess my radiator is making most of the noise through it's aero-dynamics.. sigh.

i ran my 2100+ at 2.2v and it handled the heatload just fine... sure the temps were a bit high... but that wasnt due to the heatercore...

a 6x6x2 heatercore would probably to 2x 2ghz athlons with no real problem, noone out there seems to be using them to their full potential

Hopefully it will... I'm going to be building a dual AMD (2x MP 1800's) and am so far planning on getting a Black Ice Xtreme to cool both CPU's...
