dont bother trying to do it at home. i tried once.... once . you're talking about acid (sulfuric mainly) and electrodes, catalyst plates and etc.. lots of stuff, dangerous and expensive..
believe it or not its worth sending your stuff out.

Don't play with the sulfuric acid too much...
I was using 14molar sulfuric acid in Chem Lab a few months ago... Dropped a few on my lab manual... it at through the manual and put a hole in the "chemical resistant surface" that we worked on... Always take the most extream precausions when using strong acids or bases. Remember the following rule "ADD ACID"... never add water to acid, it can instantly boil up and splatter everywhere.

totally agree with what the last guy said. strong acids and bases are nasty.. similar accident happened to me. guy next to me spilled hydrochloric acid onto my lab book.. needless to say, had to throw out the book after neutralizing it.
as far as did it work? .... well yes/no -- it looked kinda faded, dont think the current was strong enough .. needed more amperage! um.. so no it didnt work perfectly.. if you want to find info just use a search engine and search for "anodizing" or "anodizing and plating" -- many sites

as far as finding articles on anadizing, look for paintball sites.
as far as getting acid, just empty your car battery. ![]()
