Greetings
I am in the process of purchasing some 1/2" ID (1/8" wall) Clearflex 60 Clear PVC tubing from a Canadian company called Fabco Plastics Wholesale. They state that the tubing is equivalent to Tygon R-3603 Lab Tubing in terms of performance, physical properties, etc. However, it is *much* cheaper. The only setback is that they only sell the tubing in 100' rolls, and I am unable to find a reseller of theirs that will sell me less than that. Because of this, I am looking to sell 10' lengths of the tubing here for $1.55 CAD/ foot (the price listed on their website) + shipping (for those south of the border, that's $1 US / foot). Here is the URL for the catalogue entry of the tubing: http://www.fabcoplastics.com/catalog/section7/7-009.pdf If you have any questions, please e-mail me (no pms please) at the following address: mike118@sympatico.ca Also, you've probablly noticed that I am a new user here. However, I have been lurking for quite a while now; originally I hail from amdmb.com (I am a member of their SETI@Home team). Update: Well, I now have enough buyers to account for the entire 100', so unless one of them changes their minds, that's it. Thanks very much. __________________ M.E.Robbins CIV0T3 - Civil Engineering Student University of Toronto Last edited by Skulemate; 07-06-2002 at 10:53 AM. |

Well, from another Canadian, that sounds liek a good deal, but the question really is: "Is it actually as good as Tygon?"
If and when you can answer this, my interest may grow but for under $20CAD that sounds liek a good deal.

Well... that is basically the same thing that I wondered. I e-mailed them and Wayne Duffenais (wduffenais@fabcoplastics.com), one of their customer service supervisors, told me that Clearflex 60 is "equal to Tygon". Keep in mind that they are an industrial wholesaler too, and that US Plastics or whomever (VWR Canlabs, Cole-Parmer, etc) are likely marking up the tubing. In any case, I think it is worth the cash to find out since it is such a good deal (and since I am absorbing more of the risk than anyone who buys from me).

I spoke with the customer service rep today and confirmed a price of $1.55 CAD per foot. This post is simply to confirm that I will be buying the tubing (I am just awaiting some final paperword at this moment, but it should be sent by tomorrow) and that it will be arriving in approximately two weeks. Please let me know if you're interested.

I imagine it would run about $10CAD, though it may be a bit less.

We use clear flex 3/8" at my work and the stuff is sweet! You can almost bend it inhalf before it collapses! I'd be interested in possibly buying 10ft. Our maint. guys can't get it in 1/2" and thats what I need..

I am expecting the shipment any day now, and will ship it out as soon as it arrives. Depending on what you want to pay for, I can ship it out however you want. I'll send everyone an e-mail when the tubing arrives in my hands.

The tubing is in, and I have sent the buyers an e-mail. Please respond to it ASAP so I can get the tubing shipped to you. Thanks for your patronage.

Sorry it took me so long to post a reply but I have been tied up with gibfest... I got my tubing and I would recommend and use Skulemate again in the future. He responds to emails fast and shipped even quicker. A+ To Khledar I saw no difference in the tubing at all. I had been using tygon Up till I bought the ClearFlex. I know the 3/8" ClearFlex is sweet and apon recieving the 1/2" I compaired the two. The only difference I Could see was that the Tygon had a whitish tint and the CleaerFlex had a Bluish tint. The ClearFlex also has ClearFlex written on the tubing and my Tygon has no writing on it at all. They flex the same and are the same thickness.... I will post a pic of the two later tonight.

My company orders the stuff in bulk so maybe it is different in some way... Don't know why we use ClearFlex 3/8" and Tygon 1/2" might ask maintence tomarrow...
