Default Cheap system, how do you think it will it perform?

I want something like the innovatek kit but 250 bucks?? No way. So here's my idea.

Unablock 1/2" (ask aquastealth to change it or do it myself)
Via Aqua 1300 1/2" (from aquastealth)
Vinyl 1/2" (HomeDepot/Lowes)
HeaterCore 1/2" or 5/8" (auto store)
WaterWetter or PurpleIce (auto store)
Tupperware reservoir (kmart or something)

I can get all this stuff for about $70. I need some feedback about performance though.

How do you guys think this will perform? I can't seem to find many experiences/reviews of the unablock (that probably says something).

I think you will be vey happy with it, BUT it depends on what you are trying to do. If you have a celeron and Alpha or Swiftech with a 80 cfm fan on it, you will not see a big temp drop. If you are upgrading from a stock HS and fan and you stick 2 big Deltas 120 mm fans on your core you will not be getting a quiter system. If you like to overclock a little(or a LOT) water is the way to go--if you want a super quite system , water is the way to go. Look at the rankings on http://www.overclockers.com/ and you see a Koolance system beats 90% or better air cool systems and the ones it don't are way Louder. (koolance w/apprx 1/4 id hose and 15 to 17 GPH punps(ain't good at conveting 1030cc per min to GPH)).
Yes and welcome to the forum.

i have a very similar setup except my res is a powerstering fluid res

and my block is the jaged edge.

all my other components are the same. (pump etc)

it does very well. Im at a 500 mhz oc on a xp 1600+ without breaking 41-42 during prime 95.

i too went for cheap and it paid off.

Kool, thanks guys. I'm going to be cooling a 1.4 Tbird so....

Using an AX-7 with 80mm Delta @ 7volts right now and it's still too loud. My temps hover around 50C at load and idle at 45C. I'd love to drop those temps by about 10 degrees and kill the noise. If I can overclock this monster a little bit more then thats a great bonus!

So I guess the Unablock get the thumbs up? There don't seem to be too many people out there with them.

I guess I'll post some data when I put it all together.
My first foray into WC'ing begins!

Thanks to everyone who participates here. I've been reading these forums, articles, and reviews for about a month and feel pretty confident about putting fluids IN my comp heehee.

Does the unablock utilize the rubber pads on the CPU? if not becareful when you are putting it on or else you are really going to hate yourself... (core goes crack!)

personally id get a different block...the Unablock will work, but its low-end compared to others (you get what you pay for in other words). you could graba blackedge from BeCooling for $30, or a DDen Maze2 from Cooltechnica for $36. your call tho...

BIgben2k, its ouside of the case yes but not outside the house

im moving it to the crawl space real soon.

my room is probably 75 f maybe 70

i think realistically i just got and underclocked cpu so its running cooler than most.

im at a 182 fsb without unlocking it so itsd definitley a good one.

Sanjuro - I have a non-conductive shim so I don't need to worry about the rubber feet. Aquastealth doesn't give any dimensions but it doesn't look as big as a cpu by the mounting holes.

Cyco-Dude - I read somewhere that the Unablock preforms about 1C better than a Maze1. In this review...
http://www.procooling.com/reviews/ht...t1-page8.shtml
... that would put it with the BeCooling Jagged Edge.
I even found a guy on this forum (garybuck) who used the unablock on a 1ghz axia @ 1.33ghz. w/ 1.85v with load temps at 40C! He has a very similar setup to what I'm interested in. I guess I answered my own question. Thank you though.

ToddAlaska - I think I really like the powersteering reservoir idea. What size are the connectors? 1/2" 5/8"? Was it expensive?

Thanks for all the replies guys.
