Default Ehiem temp

i have an ehiem 1250, maze 2, BIX, DD NB block, tube res, all on 1/2" tubing and i have noticed that the pump gets quite warm. not burning hot, but warm enough to heat the air around it a bit. how hot is normal? what makes it get hotter than normal?

That pump puts out 28 watts of heat, it has to go somewhere! You will probably drop your temps with a 1048 even though it is lower GPH it only puts out 10 Watts of heat.
