Default Which fan for Rad?

Hey all, I was just wondering if you had a choice of a Papst 120mm fan or a Panaflo H1A, which would you prefer to stick on your rad? Both have about the same cfm's something like .2 cfm "spec" difference - 100.1 vs. 100.3 - ie. jack all...

Does anyone have a subjective experience of either? Which is louder, better quality, whatever? They would both cost me about the same, so price isn't a real factor.

This fan will end up on my (hopefully soon to be purchased) Black Ice, and will not make my gf wish she hadn't agreed to me moving in... so quieter is definitely better....

Thanks!!

Pabst (or is it Pabst?, I always forget which is the beer) are considered the better fan. Most people yse Panaflos simply because they are readily available. If you can actually get a Papst, go for it.

Papst make really good fans, with liquid bearings and great static pressure but they're pretty hard to find outside Germany. Beware they make crappy fans as well, with brush bearings Check out their catalog before ordering anything.
The Panaflo's H1A and L1A are very good contenders but more 'classic' (ball-bearing)and you can find em an any electronics shop.

Sorry, I should have elucidated further on the situation... In Australia Panaflo are far from being common, and are regarded as a bit of a specialty fan, common is Sunon, and until recently Papst was unheard of!!! But we have a few new sites dedicated to PC cooling gear, and one of them secured a deal with Papst apparently, and offers their fans for a similar price to another site who deal with Panaflo.

So for deco, I guess that doesn't really aid your search for a Papst 120... sorry mate. but it sin't exactly 120, anyway - specs list it as 119mm... x32 with 100.1 cfm at 47dBa... Then again, that's the specs...

The Papst's sell for $36AUD (around 18 US), while a Panaflo would be 35AUD with out the tail (an extra $2.50AUD) so the Papst is prolly better value all 'round

Thanks all for replies, and sorry for the HOOG post here...

Hey bollocks, check out PC Cooling Australia for the Papst's... I dunno what shipping to Perth would be like, but I can prolly get them from the source, if you definitely want some, drop me a line and I'll try and organise something...

No promises, but I'll do my best...

No problem, thanks for responding. If I was in your situation I would deffiniatly go with Papst eventhough Panaflows are great fans (I have about 15 of em in various sizes laying around)

something tells me that link is wrong...it could be that it goes to a cotton site, or is this perhaps some odd oz humor? like that dreadful crocodile dundee horror/freak show?

i wonder if they would ship to the us if i asked them nicely....

I would say that the boys would be only too happy to ship to the US and possibly get some of those lovely US dollars into their hands.... email them from the link on the site and see what they say... Shipping may be a bit of a pain tho...
