Sicce Nova pump

Wonder how the Sicce pumps are? Are they "silent"?

The Extrema looks nice. 2,500 L/h (~660gph) for $72.00USD.... Like the profile........... Wonder just how reliable those would be?

IIRC this is the pump that Turbokeu used in his PC-70, and maybe decodeddiesel has one too? I think they are supposed to be prett good if it is the same brand

i'm not that great at electronics, but would those variable flow speed pumps also reduce wattage when u reduce the flow with the potmeter. if so u could easily find sweet spot of noise/temps/flow

Actually both Turbokeu and I have the Sicce Idra which I believe is one model below the Nova.

Anyway to answer your question it is a great pump. It is slightly louder than my Eheim 1250 (like compairing the wings flapping noise of a seagull to that of a dove), but gets about the same flow and head and is about 1/2 the size of the 1250. I'm sure it will fill your needs well.

Where is the intake on those pumps? Also , for those of you who use these pumps, what is the rated head pressure for them?

Thanks in advance.

Hi pHaestus & decodeddiesel, it's a long time ago...

Yes I used the Sicce Idra (which does 1300l/h as opposed to the 800l/h of the Nova) but I was not quite satisfied. I had a leak after some time between pump housing and the "prechamber" (as they call it on the Sicce website) because the mounting of that prechamber is not very sturdy and I had to use some silicone sealant to make it stop leaking.

I have also a Nova running in one of my fishtanks that I RMA'ed already twice... It makes a really annoying rattling noise (although the propeller is fixed to the axe out of the factory).

Anyway I bought myself a Eheim 1250...
It was quite difficult to find a suitable place for it in my case but I managed quite well:

It's almost silent but vibrates quite a lot, so you have to isolate it pretty good from the case.
I used these kind of silentblocs:

In the meanwhile I modified the outlet of the 1250 to accomodate for my Swissflow sensor:

See you soon,
CD
