Default Pump ratings vrs. performance?

Is there a real world equation? I mean, I have 2 pumps, one rated at 120gph, and one at 526. I tested both going through 5 ft. of tubing, 1 ft (at the most) of lift. The 120 did 95.7gph, the 526 did 180. I thin k I want a pump that can actualy push 300 in this test.

Check out the pump roundup thread .

It sounds like a Via Aqua would fit the bill (not a favorite of all people).
