This is the latest evolution in my pump modding, essentially 3 pumps in series, but with all 3 mounted side by side attached to a fully custom shared impeller chamber assembly, all 3 pumps will also benifit from the valve assisted performance mod I've developed from previous pump mod expriments.
The purpose of all this is to achieve higher pressure so more effective jet impingement methods can be used for cpu cooling. This is a work in progress and will be updated as progress continues. The pumps used are Resun SP-1200L (also known as POW300-2) pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I guess you resolved the "direction of flow" problem?

Man you're a L00N!
![]() Each pump will have to have its own valve setup though won't it?, cause you can't gaurentee which way each pump will startup... Be interesting to see the combined valve to next inlet setup you choose/make, is it gonna be milled out of Plexi as well?( I see a bluuu LED mod a'coming ![]() |

![]() yea each pump will have it's own set of flap valves mounted at the end of the milled channels on another perspex "layer" to be added on top. (that layer will also include the lead in to the next pumps inlet) The whole lot will be perspex except for the end bearing assembles for the impellers (scavanged from the original pumps impeller chambers) And of course it would be almost criminal to make something like this and not include led's ![]() Quote:

Just a little update, spent most of the day finding a (finally) suitable rubber material to make the valves out of (a big flat soft rubber washer originally intended to seal a toilet cistern) all I've done since is add another thin perspex layer to the assembly (this will house the valves among other things) and cut out the end intakes of the pumps original impeller chambers, they have a little cleaning up to do before their ready to fit (in the next layer that's yet to be cut out)
![]() ![]() Think I have enough clamps? ![]()

Shee~~~Yite!, He brought the company!!
![]() I saw an interesting one way valve made out of a rubber/silicone 'tube' that is squashed flat at the end by default, when no flow is opening it up. it should be very soft hence non restrictive!. it's abit like how oldfashioned bicycle innertube valves worked is'nt it?... Good luck with the project! ![]() |

another update;
finished shaping the peice you saw being "overkill" clamped before; ![]() closer look; ![]() with rubber valves and intake guides just sitting in position (note the valve rubber still needs to be trimmed to size); ![]()

The 'hinge' will be on the thin end of the flaps?...
I'd maybe score/cut the rubber halfway through from the bottom, so it lifts up completly, does'nt make a 'curve' if you know what I mean?, and block flow... You could even make the hinge out of some other substance (thick monofiliment fishing line?) that bends easier than the rubber but still has just enough 'memory' to spring back and close... |

yea the hinge is something I'll have to have a think about, it's going to be an accessable part so I can expriment with it a bit, find the optimal setup.

Yeah!, the rubbers gonna have to be substantial, lot of pressure generated on the last ones!, but the hinge wants to be flexible enough. I can't think of the perfect flexible but memory retentive stuff for the job at the moment...
Did you ever test the 'stall the impellor' thing to see if it flipped the other way or whether it stayed stalled?... |

yea I did have a look at that on my really small pump, unfortunally it doesn't kick back but instead simply tries to push against the obstruction, with the more powerfull pumps you'd simply end up breaking impeller blades:shrug:

minor update
![]() The second last layer with the impeller shaft things/intakes in place, this layer still has a lot of work yet to be done on it, water channels, clearance for the valves ect. ![]() ![]()

update;
woot, only one layer to go ![]() finished the machining of the second last layer, finally, and mounted the valves on the previous layer; ![]() ![]() ![]()

Woot almost there!
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have just one more peice of perspex to cut out, that will go on the back side of the 3 pumps with looong bolts to clamp the whole mess together ![]() ![]()

WOOT! It's finished;
![]() well almost, I need to try and optimize the valves, their a little too stiff I feel, as well as other testing. inital head test came to 2.5m (each pump is rated at .8m head)

EXCELLENT!!
![]() Did you try cutting a slot/line halfway through the rubber valves yet?, at the 'hinge point/line'?, that would let them bend easier... why does the water inside look like milk(white) in the pic?, I've seen this effect before, but only half of the water in 'that' pic looked white, stripey water!, strange ![]() |
