Default Cheapest/Most Efficient water-cooling system for 150 dollars.

I recently got into the whole overclocking scene and I've been aircooling for a while but I want to push this 1.4ghz fast I have an Epox 8K3A and good ram it's just an unstable processor. What would be a good starter water-cooling setup...I'm just looking for northbridge/cpu cooling and the rad cant be TOO big ( 5 x 5 should fit anything bigger i dont think it will )

Thanks in advance

You are looking at spending at least $150 for a decent Watercooling system to cool down that puppy.

My suggestion: go custom built.

BUT if you want, I just priced out a setup that will fit your bill and work decently for your needs from BeCooling.

$149

3/8" Tubing
BlackIce Pro Radiator
Delta 130cfm fan
Black Edge w/ lexan clamp Waterblock
MiniJet 404 Pump w/ Res.

http://becooling.safeshopper.com

This is not the best performing setup but will do just fine for that CPU.

However IF you are seriously into performance and dont mind doing some Mods to your case, let us know what you want. Noise levels, CPU temps, degree of case mods, future room for faster CPUS, future pelts....

Let us know and we can recommend individual items that will fit your bill and your needs.

You should count $200 for a real good WC system. And since the TBird is the hottest chick around, you'll need that if you really want uber overclocking.
I've got a TBird as well and at the speed it's running at, it produces ~92W. Only premium hardware can cool down efficiently that heatload, on a small tbird core...

Gmat is correct. The Tbird 1.4Ghz is one VERY hot chip. Had one myself for a long time and was able to keep it relatively cool with a setup very similar to the one I priced out above.

My situation was Tbird 1.4Ghz @ 1725 w/ 1.85volts. That sucker ran at 40-42C constantly. I couldnt push the 1.4 any higher due to AGP problems and it just wasnt stable over 1750.

If these details are acceptable to you then that setup priced out above should be enough for you. IF not, then reconsider investing a bit more money. $200 for a very nice performing system is VERY reasonable.

You can also save money IF you are willing to do more customizations to your case. Mainly you can get a cheaper, more efficent heatercore radiator that will do wonders for your temps but requires some mods to fit it in the case.

well i have a ax-7 sitting on it in a mid-tower. the exaust and intake arent the best...so im sure thats why the hsf gets pretty good and heated.. but the thing is unstable above 1550..cosair micron ddr..and i have STOCK timings...so i higly doubt its the fsb..which makes me belive the cpu is unstable. it gets 40c and then it just restarts out of the blue. i just cant make sense of it :\

Frag: consider the guy that told you to buy a better cpu instead, is watercooling his setup with a res made out of a vodka bottle ...

Watercooling is fun, and that fun is well worth $200
