Then tell us your experience. I'm more worried in performance/drivers.

I've seen lindows popping up everywhere. Windows was trying to sue them because of the name lol. I guess i'll go give it a shot. I'm curious on how it looks and how it handles to the home user.

I'll post up my experiences when.... i've experienced them.

Harja, kif ahna g'bin?

Hey dudes,
I recently delved into the Linux world to try things out. At first I bought Lycoris Desktop/LX. www.lycoris.com . Check it out. It is similar to windows/lindows and sells on cheap PCs. It retails for only $29.99 so I figured I'd check it out. It wasn't bad, but driver support was horrible and so was general support of my hardware. So I moved on... I looked into Lindows, but it was too expensive. I moved on to Mandrake Linux. This thing is free. Just download the ISO and burn. Well, I did that... and I like it a lot! It is supporting my ATGi 8500 graphics card (linux likes nVidia cards much better) without any problem. The sound works well too. The unfortunate part is my monitor. I can't get any distro of linux to correctly support my 1600x1024 SGI LCD. I'm thinking about trying Red Hat. Well... just thought I'd relay you all my experience.

you do realize that anything using linux technology is free? you should be able to download lindows or whatever for free. thats the whole cool thing about linux - its copyrighted so taht no one can charge money for anything containing linux. i have redhat 8 runing on one of my computers. it works quite well, but then im not runing a gui or anything and i only use it for servers.

don't go to redhat, you'll regret it. if you have to stay in the linux game, go slack

I read a cool article comparing all the distros at www.desktoplinux.com ... sounds like RH is the best.
