Default MagDrive 350 too much for WC?

Mag Drive 350 GPH is too much for water cooling? Anyone has opinion on this?

I think your pump really depends on your setup. I use a Mag Drive 500 with car heater core and it works great. I actually had a flow problem with the 250. If you have a good flowing radiator, I would think 250 would be plenty.

I have a 250 now with a BE aquacoil, and a DD Maze 2.....My temps max out at 50c on a hot day (Athlon 1200C at 10.5x145). I was thinking of trying a 350 myself. If you get one...let us know how it works!

My setup could probabally use some improvement though...you may have better luck.

as long as you don't exceed the specific heat of water you should do fine. keep in mind, though, that it is easier to restrict flow in the case of excessive flow, than it is to increase flow in the case of low flow.

Actually...I'm looking around at pump prices and I think I might go ahead and upgrade.

Anyone know if the MagDrive 500 GPH model would be too much pressure for a 3/8 system? (Anyone tried?) Or a better question yet...would this much restriction kill the pump!

Or would the difference in temps between the flows from the 350 and 500 be very significant?

either should work just fine. mag drive pumps aren't very big on pressure so there's little diff between the 350 and 500, pressure-wise.....

given a choice, though, grab the 500.

Just don't get a pondmaster.
actually, the only pump I'd put in a computer is the eheim 1250.

Specific heat is the ratio of energy absorbed to change in heat. What do you mean by that?

Awesome pump. And nicely shielded as well.

I think I'll go with the MagDrive 500 (not the pondmaster). It's cheap ($43), and it'll fit perfectly in the same spot currently occupied by the 250.

The case is cramped as it is (it's a mid-tower), and it took a bit of doing to fit everything the way it is. I'd probabally have to mod the case a little more to fit the 1250. Or do you disagree?

I use the magdrive 500, personally I might go to the 1000 in the near future, more flow is always better, but hey, I run 3/4" lines throughout including my radiator(s) I downsize the tubing to 1/2" at the DD maze2 and 1/4" at the chipset block using a custom made copper header.

I think I'd definitely burn out a 1000 GPH pump with 3/8 lines.
