I tried searching this but nothing really came up..
I'm looking for a good, fairly reliable, mid range pump for my future h20 system. My system will consist of a GPU block (MCW50), NB block (probably Dtek FSB block), and Dtek's WhiteWater CPU block.. Just looking from the specs, the Danner pump pumps about 280gph more than the Hydor. Both pumps are the same price. I heard that Hydor pumps are very reliable, but I haven't heard much about the Danner. Has anyone had any experience with Danner pumps? How much better would the Danner perform over the Hydor? Thanks, Terro |

thanks - I just did a search and overall they seem pretty good. Any reason why the Danners are so much cheaper even though the Mag Drive 5 is almost double the gph and they aren't as popular in the WC community?
Cosmetics and noise level aren't important to me btw... |

supposedly because the impeller in the magdrive is the only moving part, equally less complexity in design and fab.

I have been running a Danner Mag 5 in my system for over 1 year now . Basically 24/7 except for shut downs for maintenence, chage the water clear the fan filters, and blow the dust out of the radiator.
I t has been a very dependable pump for me and it is quiet. So if the Danner is cheaper for you I'd say go for it. Make sure you go with 1/2" system since you are going to cool the CPU and Gpu fresno12 |

it draws 45w of electicial power, now most of the power has to be dissipated into the water unless the pump is external and it has some kind of fins around the motor with a fan blowing onto them like well pumps. so in some other words, your rad has to dissipate ~ 40W of extra heat coming from the pump.
the hydor l30 runs at 27W, almost half of that. but remember that with the hydor you have less head and less flow. the danner mag 5 offers more head and flow but $ucks more power.

I personally feel that the Mag 3 is a better choice than the Mag 5 in terms of power consumption for the resultant flow rate.

i agree with Cathar, the danner mag-3 would be a better choice. it has the same max head of 10.5' yet draws 35w (as opposed to 45w). heres a chart |
