Default p4 overclocking

i know the number of p4 users is small here but i have a strange problem and wonderd if anyone else has seen this.

i have a p4 2.53 c1 stepping running at 3153ghz. i just installed some xms 3500 cl2 memory (had samsung 3200 cl2.5 before )and increased the fsb from 166 to 170 giving me 3230ghz. i ran sandra cpu benchmark before and after and the benchmark was the same. the strange thing is it was only 8196 mips. when i first setup this system up it was running faster at 9011mips.

i have lowerd the core volts to 1.52 and the system is running fine with no lockups. on my old benchmark i would have had the volts at 1.5v or higher. could this be the problem ?

Maybe the CPU is throttling off due to overheating ?

system temp 25C
idle temp 38C
load 42C

i am looking into the by spd settings on my p4pe. it looks like that could be one problem.

SPD settings are programed into the RAM~sticks themselves, not the BIOS/mobo. You're best off setting it up yourself...

Yes, spd is programmed inn thoses sticks. so set them up yourself.

If that is done, right and u still have problems i would think throttling or that your software is a bit "¤)(/#(¤/%"

No spyware proggies that have gone past you?

i did a bit of searching last night and found that the xms 3500 on chip spd is the same as 3200 so i set them myself to 2-3-3-7. I also found that the p4pe i have has problem with high fsb in memory slot 1 so i will change that too.

just before i switched of my pc last night i ran one more sandra benchmark and found it was 9003 mips.
This morning back to 8000.

after installing sandra max today i found my benchmarks are close to what they have for 3gig and 3.2gig p4 non HT so i am happy.

also have the xms 3500 at cl2 424mhz
fsb 170
core volts 1.55
speed 3230

i have a little more left on the ram so after giving it a good bashing i will try higher.

cant wait for my cascade as my temps will drop giving me even more room to improve.

I did have a close call as the ehiem 1048 i have stopped working and my bios temps shot up to 86C !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have changed the 1048 to a aquabee 1000 l/h for the moment.
