Hello everyone, i am going to be watercooling my dual xeons soon and was wondering which pump would be best? Is the swiftech pump good enough or a eheim 1250, or do i need something larger? I will have a reservoir as well.

A pump is depending on your hardware.
What CPU block do you have? One of the restricting kind (White water) or one for more flow? (Maze 4 e.g.) the same goes if you have more blocks for GPU and Northbridge. What Radiator do you have? They come in all types and shapes, restrictive and not so restrictive. Depending on your setup, both the MCP600 and the Eheim are a good choice. If you look at this Article , you know why. The MCP outperforms the Eheim a bit in almost every setup. It’s smaller, quieter and uses less power. (I must look like a commercial) but a bit more expensive. If you have a “non restrictive” setup, the Eheim will do just fine also. If you have a very restrictive setup, you might even want to use 2 pumps. Depending on the availability and price of the pumps, you should make your choice.

Thank you for the reply fhorst. I am going to be using 2 swiftech MCW5002's, and debating over the chevette heatercore i have now, or another larger heatercore that i have that is big enough to mount 2 120mm fans on both sides of it.

I guess it depends on the space in your case and your pocket
![]() Both pumps would be OK If you use 1/2" ID tubing, you are all set to go!

I have two cpu blocks as well, and a little via aqua 2600 works fine. But on the heatercore, I'd go for the larger one. I can have 100% cpu use, and with no fans, cpu temps only get up to 125 F (that's 70F ambient) using a ~ 10"x6" heatercore.

I think the 1250 will work well for you. The MCW5002s and the chevy heatercore are not too restrictive. I'd use the heatercore also as it can easily dissipate the heat of the two processors. If you use a fan shroud on the radiator, you won't have to use a very powerful fan.

Thanks for the replies everyone. So would the chevette heatercore be enough with a fan at 7v, or would i need to move up to a larger core with 2 fans on one side at 7v, assuming both setup's used a shroud.

I use the 4 inch AC fan from radioshack.
http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=273%2D241 It is very silent and doesn't draw power from the power supply. I just wire it with the pump. The blades and rotor are made of steel and are heavy. It takes a little while to get up to speed, but once there, remains there. It is silent and sucks through a heatercore very well. |

I have a duel Xeon 3 ghz ( I don't mean to sound like an add for swifttech) I have 2 swiftech waterblocks 2 swifttech 80mm radiators and the swifttech 600 pump with the new pump head on it i am using 3/8 i.d hose. It all seems to be working very well. I am not looking to overcock the machine i just wanted a nice stable quite graphics workstation for my architecture work.

hey philip i hate to rain on your parade but cpu temps lower than mobo temps just doesnt happen without some powerful cooling (tec phase chage a really big bong) therefore i sugest that the numbers that you are getting are suspect (or just realy weird)

I don't see anything wrong with his temps. My dual board (p4dce+) is like that also. My air cooled rack case shows 32 mobo, 22 cpu1, 28 cpu2. My room windows are open and the outside air is about 7 degrees C.
My single board reads the opposite. cpu is 28 and mobo is 24. |
