Default iwaki md-15R or 2 x swiftech mcp600

I purchased myself a V5 from jpiperformance with 2 xlr120 rads

(there is a rad on both sides of the box)

dimensions of the v5(roughly) are 17"(L)x10"(W)x10"(H)

the rads are 2" thick, so the space i will be able to use inside the v5 for mounting a pump will be 6"wide.

the iwaki is about 2.75 "wide , if i would put my pump in the middle of the case, the distance between pump and radiators will be about 1.5" from pump to each radiator.

-Will this hurt airflow through the rads
-will the heat of the pump have impact on the cooling capabilities of both rads(radiaton of heat from the pump to the rads).

I have another option, taking 2 swiftech mcp600 instaed of 1 iwaki, the swiftech doesn't produce a lot of heat(about 9W each).

What would be the better option?

I think you also need to consider the length of the MD15. My pump is a MD15, and without any fittings it's about 8" long.

But that makes no allowance for the fittings you will have to have. And 2" is not much room to add a outlet fitting + hose, unless you set the pump on a diagonal, which you can do I think. But even with the pump mounted on a diagonal you may still have a pretty tight fit.

I'd still recommend the MD15 to you, just thought I'd point that out to you though before you order the pump.

The case is 17"long(deep), but 10"wide and 10" high.
So there will be ample room for it.

Duh, I misread the first post. I was thinking the rads + shrouds were in the two ends. That configuration would be tight.

This set up with the rads in the sides will take the Iwaki, no problem. Should be a very sweet and powerfull system. If you can afford it I'd go with the next size larger Iwaki, the MD20rlzt.

With those dual very large cores, your JPI set up can make great use of a Iwaki pump (MD20rlzt requires a really good rad to offer gains, but your duals would be more than enough.).

How many blocks will this be set up with? TECs?

I havn't checked JPI's site in some time, they've clearly come up with some more nice items.

The heat of the pump is a non issue. In such a strong air flow pattern the pumps heat will have little effect on air temps to the rads. Iwaki's get hot when built into inside case systems as they are almost always at the case bottome due to thier size, and don't get enough air flow to dissipate the pumps heat.

What is the total air flow of the 3 (4?) fans?

Nice box!

How long did it take for them to make it and send it?

As for the pump heat effecting the rads, non-issue. The fans draw air from the outside through the rads and push it out. The heat from the pumps will be drawn through the fans and not the rad (if I understand the flow design correctly).

Did it need to have all of those fans?

Why do you need that much pumping power?

Just have to remind you that i live in holland(50Hz) and the head of a md15-R is 2.4M , not 3.4M (=60hz).

I heard the swiftech have a head of 2.2M, so when i put it in series it will have less flowrate but head and pressure will be better than an iwaki.

Mind you, i will be using just one waterblock (swiftech mcw5002PT) which is not a restrictive waterblock. But the external case will be placed under my desk so the pump would have to pump the water to my waterblock which will be placed about 90 cm(about 3 ft or 36 inches) higher than the external case(and pump), and it will be a 2 rad setup(rads in parallel).

Which pump would be the best for this system?

Doesnt really matter:

"As of December 31st, 2003, JPI Performance will be closed. It's been a pleasure serving the needs of the H20 community and we thank all of our customers for their loyalty, purchases and for helping JPI to become a highly respected supplier of high performance cooling systems. The decision to close down the business was difficult as we enjoyed the culture and more importantly, we've made a lot of friends over the year and it's these relationships, that we will miss the most."

Put one mcp600 in the V5 and one in the computer.

If I'm correct, the pre- modded/fixed MCP's will do about 3 meters, and revision 2 will do it again.
With the fix, they used a smaller impeller, so the pump now does 2.2 meters.
The fix (rev2) will come mid of januari.

I live in the Netherlands also, and for the price of one iwaki 15 or 20 you can buy 2 MCP's

I've heard that Jeroen from the Tweakstore.net just bought 20. Not sure of the price yet, but it will be under the 80 euros each
