Default TEC-Mini-Chiller...

Hey folks, I know this has been done before and debated, but I was thinking of putting my spare 30-50W TEC to use, and I thought of a simple way to make it into a mini chiller. I know it won't make much diff, but I'm just wondering what folks think of the idea and if it would actually chill the incoming water a few C? Basically is it worth putting in time and effort making one?

I figure that it would at least cool the water more than the incoming water from the heatercore...but then the hot side output would be dumping that heat into the Hcore, which should be abe to handle it quiet well (check my sig for the Hcore model etc.)

Thanks all.

I would just put the peltier on GPU or northbridge instead personally.

All that setup will do is add ~50W of heat to the water.

Remember, whatever current x voltage (= watts) is drawn by the TEC gets spit out the hot side as heat.

The water may cool by 0.1C as it passes the cold side, but the extra 50W of heat being dumped out the hot side will probably cause the water to rise by 2-3C for an average decent radiator setup, with the net result of the CPU being a few degrees warmer.

Yeah I was going on wishful-thinking on that one... TEC just suck, unless you're doing direct die.... which still drains MASSIVE amounts of power from your PSU... and adds noticeably to your electric bill.... TEC crap.... thanks.
