Remeber I posted about my HS falling off my radeon 9500np while I was surfing the forums? I Began removing the shim and I slipped and cut off a resistor. Best part of all I lost it!
Now the card is unstable in 3dmark. YAY! Any IDeas how I can fix it? |

Take a picture.
Compare it with someone with another (identical) card, and get the resistor value. Then buy an equal one (SMD) and solder it there. If you cant get a SMD resistor, buy a small precision resistor and solder it. It should work.

If you cant find the exact resistor, you will need to get a trimmer and set it to the proper resistance. You will need a good multimeter. Radioshack sells suitable trimmers.

When I tested the resistors around it they gave me a reading of 4.2 when I was using my multi-meter at 200k ohms.
The card passed 3dmark test. No artifacts. I am just worried about long term affects. This picture shows what resistors I screwed. Big circle is the one I totally chopped off, the little one is where I severed one end of the next resistor. I found this pic off the web and edited it. My cam sucks at close-ups. Your comp runs with the resistors ripped off??? Wow!!!
Maybe you are simply over/under-volting it somehow now ![]()

I managed to pop one of those tiny resistors off the back of my GF3 card... thankfully after 10min searching I found and it and.... *shhh* superglued it back on
