Hi everybody I have been looking all over for a forum that looks like it is cool, and this looks like the one. I have spent a lot of time over the last couple of weeks looking for a high end watercooling system for the rig i am building. But there are so many brands and to go with all those brands are the conflicting reviews about each one. So the more research I do the more unanswered questions I have. Hopefully you guys can help me figure out a killer water cooling system for my rig.
About the only thing I have been able to decide on is the whitewater block from Cathar. I will post the specs from my system that have anything to do with the water cooling. CPU: Athlon 64 3400+ HDs: Western Digital 74Gb 10;000 RPM Raptor's In RAID 0 GPU: ATI Radeon 9800 XT MOBO: ASUS K8V Deluxe RAM: Corsair XMS LL 2X512 (PC3200) Case is either going to be ANTEC plusview 1000 or one of the Chieftec MATRIX models. Any help you could give me would be most Welcome ![]() |

Cathar doesn't do the WhiteWater any more. He sold the designs to Dtek and now they do them. His current block (also the "champion") is the Cascade.

Hi lorne, welcome to Procooling!
To be able to give you some advice, we need more info! What are you planning to cool? CPU only? +GPU? + NB? + Harddisks? + Mosfets? + PSU? + Memory? the White water is a nice block (have one myselve), and it performs well in a low flow system. It performs even better in a high flow system, but it will be one of the most restricting factors in a high flow system. Your temperatures should be about 4 to 5 degrees lower in a high flow setup. It's all a bit the 30/70 rule.... with 30 % effort(costs) you will get 70% result. To gain that other 30% you need to be willing to put in 70% effort (and cost!) and you must be aware that you may never get the 100% perfection. If you only want to cool the CPU, get a nice heatercore from D-tec (maybe a double HC) and a MCP600 and let it run 1/2" tubes.

Thanks for the welcome ![]() I was doing some more looking around, here is what i was looking at PUMP- Eheim 1260 600 gph RAD: Thermochill 120.3 Tubing- Tygon 12 feet GPU- Maze 4 waterblock These are just some thoughts if you know of something better your input would be most welcome. And of course your help with cooling the other components would be a huge help. meethoss Thanks for the info, That was good to know ![]() |

just something to think about, if you want a high flow system, especially with a whitewater and that many blocks you might consider a different pump, or splitting it into two seperate loops. check out the pump comparison that pH did, or look around the site at some of the pump threads. anybody else have any thoughts on this? also are you going to cram this into your case or use an external box?

Well, that looks a bit like the system I'm setting up....
Only I use P4 ![]() For my setup, I chose 2 different loops. One all copper 1/2": - 2x MCP600 - WW cpu - D-Dek z chipset - Innovetac "pateched" GPU (don't lauch.. I have a Gforce4, and I don't want to OC it..) - Dangerdan Bay-reservoir. setup: res - pump1 - pump2 - double heatercore - ww I will keep the outlet of the WW split, let it go through de GPU and NB. After this I have one single Heatercore and one BIX. Then back to the bay res. For the rest I'm making a whole aluminium loop. This will have the nice small res+ dual pump from Koolance. I might put in one extra pump, as it needs to go through 5 and 6 mm ID ![]() this will have : - 3x koolance HDD coolers - home made Mosfet cooler - South bridge cooler - PSU cooler - System Memory cooler - GPU memory cooler - If it works out (still designing) back of CPU/Motherboard/mosfet cooler The alu loop will have the koolance radiator and one radiator of a piaggio. All exept the koolance EXOS will be build-in into my chieftec tower ![]() This should be able to beat all heat problems ![]() (I like to go for the 100% ![]()

Thanks for the info. I would probably split it into 2 seperate loops I think. Does this mean 2 rads ? I wold like to use a external box cause I want to keep the inside as uncluttered as possible. For an external box I was thinking of using a mini fridge I have. Just to keep things nice and cool. What do you think? |

Just some extra info:
I especially picked the 2x MCP600: - small - good performence (in series same as Iwaki MDR20) - low wattage - Silent !!!! - fault tolerance

Wow, that looks pretty sweet. Hope we get to see some pics of that ![]() Lucky you can get the Chieftec, which one are you getting. I have been searching for the MATRIX in canada but no go, nobody can get it or most other Chieftec cases ![]() BTW my case is going to be the Antec performance plusview 1000 AMG, Not as nice as the matrix but I have a couple of cool mods planned for it so it will still be pretty cool ![]() Thanks again for the help ![]() |

![]() Man looks like a sweet set up, don't think you are ever gonna have cooling issues with that rig. That looks like a Antec tower ? How did you find the soundproofing worked ? Great idea. What do you think of using a mini-fridge for a external compartment ? The 2 mcp 660 are pumps ? Last edited by lorne; 01-28-2004 at 06:57 PM. |

well, I like to go for a low power usage. Fridge and vapo use loads of power, costing me about 3 to 500 euro's per year only on power.....
This was a cheapo case...

yeah I guess it might be a little expensive. Vapo, as in vaporchill ? Would I have to use vaporchill if i go with mini-fridge ?

Not done. Why? uses to much extra power. and besides, playing with water is more fun!
