Default newb tec questions :)

I have some basic questions that I thought you fellas could answer.

1. I have an abit ic7-max3 mobo, is there anything that I have to do to the
back of the mobo? There arent any pins showing.
2. Should I put thermal compound between the cold plate/pelt/waterbock?
3. Which side of the pelt is which, I mean, which is the cold side?

Thanks for any help that you can give.

1. to avoid any problem, you should applied a layer of dielectric grease and neoprene.

2. yes

3. usually, the cold side is the side with the model number on it, tho that might not always be the case. In any case, you should test it before applying it to the cpu.

Easy way to test is to hook it up to a 9V battery, and put your fingers on it. Whichever side gets cold is the cold side (make sure red wire to positive terminal, black to negative). I usually mark the cold side with a permanent marker after that so I know which is which.
