Default temps should be lower?

I have a 226W pelt, a maze4+1 on my current setup(yeah, I bought a new mobo).
I have a MEAN WELL S-320-12 powering the tec. My temps seem to be hovering around the 11C mark. This should be lower, right? What kind of things could be in the way of me attaining subzero temps?

Do the temps vary that much? I mean, the temps is 5C right now, but when Im playin battlefield vietnam, the temps hit 22C. Should they fluctuate that much?

*workin on the pic*

The first issue I'd check is that the TEC is properly clamped: that's the usual culprit.

Ben is right check the clamping pressure and if necessary increase the mounting pressure.

re: temp variance

Bear in mind that you are no longer cooling with a device that acts like a normal heatsink. The dissipation of a typical heatsink (radiator, whatever) improves as temp rises, right? Larger gradient results in easier transfer. This has the result of dampening the impact (on equilibrium temp) of increasing the applied heatload (moving from idle to full load on the processor).

A peltier is not a heat radiator, it's a heat pump. As such, it grows less efficient as heatload rises. This has the result of enhancing the impact (on equilibrium temp) of increasing the heatload (moving from idle to full load on the processor).

In short, a peltier system will exhibit a larger variance in temperature than an aircooled system, all other things being equal.

Out of curiosity, how well does the peltier perform at zero load (processor not powered/attached)?

Resize, crop, convert to jpeg.
As far as I know you can do it by using MS Paint.

My thoughts at first glance:
I can't quite see, but are those 90 degree elbows on that bayres? It doesn't look like they're needed, and they hurt flow lots.
Radiators need shrouds. Remember, it all boils down to aircooling.
Is there another fan on the other side of the radiator?
Have you considered upgrading to a heatercore? They're cheap to experiment with (~$20 US) and should outperform that blackice in terms of dissipation.

Can you measure your water temp?

I dont have anything hooked up, but at first glance(feel), Its probably in the 80'sF.
I do have another delta on the other side of the rad. Does the temperature of the hot side directly affect the temp on the cold side?

Yes, the temperature of the hot side directly affects the temperature on the cold side. Peltiers have a certain dT (deltaT) rating that says how much of a temperature difference it can maintain between each side. So basically, lowering the temp of the hot side by one degree will lower the cold side's temp by one degree as well.

I got a Swiftech mcw5002-pt. Current Temp in Bios is 8~11C. When playing Farcry and UT04 Temp goes up to 15~18C. My ambient Temp is 30C.

How do you come about that it's dead?
